A WINDOW INTO OUR HISTORY
‘The Mission’ was planted out of KingsGate Church (Kingston) in October 2021 under the leadership of Carl and Bron. Having originally started out as a home group in 2012, the group continued to grow and multiply, and later became a site of KingsGate Church, based in Wimbledon Village. Our group of passionate believers continued to fervently pioneer, believe and trust The Father for His blessing over the land, whilst navigating the challenges that lockdown and life in general can throw at a small community.
In October 2021, under the blessing and guidance of the KingsGate eldership, we launched out as an autonomous church. As part of our new beginning, our desire had rapidly been growing to bring in fresh emphasis and focus on being a missional and multiplying community. This remains our focus to this day, so here we are, and we love being called ‘The Mission’!
MEETING TOGETHER

Our 3 connection pillars position us for attaining our mission and vision:
Mission Stations
On Sundays we meet in small groups in homes that we call Mission Stations. These groups are the heartbeat of our ministry. In our small groups we eat together, teach The Word, pray and worship together. We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the activation of those gifts in all. These home-based groups operate as micro-church gatherings and discipleship groups. We define discipleship as leading people and each other on the journey of knowing Jesus at ever increasing depths, becoming more like Him, and stepping up more and more to participate in His Great Story. This is a wild story of forgiveness, reconciliation, and rediscovery of The Father's heart of Love. And the invitation is open to all!
A key part of our discipleship is then multiplying who we are and what we have by creating space for others to step in. Our dream would be to see a vast army of leaders being set in place to lead and disciple others.
Meeting in homes in smaller groups allow us to engage in a more relaxed and intimate setting. Wherever you may be on your journey; whether you are new to faith, exploring the faith, or have been a Christian for a long time, our Sunday Mission Stations are open for all. Feel free to visit us! Currently we have mission stations based in South Wimbledon and Surbiton at 10am on Sundays. We'd be delighted if you came along to visit.
Mission Fires
Mission Fires are all other small group ministries that gather around a common gifting or interest, with Jesus Christ always at the centre. These could be weekly, monthly or even once off gatherings, that function to further equip our church as a whole, or to provide a safe space for visitors to explore the heart and theology of The Mission.
"Friday Fires" has been an initiative in Esher, providing a space for and is for school aged youth to hang out around a fire discussing the gospel together. We've also had "Travelling Worship", "Gospel Walks in Surrey", "Good Friday Invite the Neighbours!" and other initiatives along the way!
All-Church Sundays
Our All-Church Sundays are in place for gathering the whole community together once a month. We also put other all-church moments into our calendar such as worship evenings, weekend getaways and social activities as it's important to us to stay connected to each other as one community, hearing each other's stories, championing each other and spurring each other on. Overall we operate as one church, maintaining central governance, central leadership and macro decision making under the guidance of our eldership and trustees.
Children are a key part of who we are at The Mission. Our heart is to include them in all aspects of our Sunday gatherings as well as all other events. We love watching them grow deeper in their understanding of Jesus and we get to learn so much from them too!
Children of all ages welcome.
